This U-boat (type VIIC) was launched on 22.08.1943 in Kriegsmarinewerft Wilhelmshaven shipyard. It sank in the Baltic Sea, Gdansk Bay near Krynica Morska on November 20th 1943 due to a collision with U-745. The remains of collision can be seen as hole in hull between conning tower and bow. The wreck lies on its keel, with clearly visible rudders and propellers. Big part of the wreck is covered in nets. On top of the conning tower there is a circular antenna from radio direction finding (RDF) device. The wreck lies on 55 meters depth.
When I was creating this model, the visibility was very poor - maximum 2-3 meters. I spent over 80 minutes on the wreck taking photos ( 3+ hrs total dive time).
